BOL D’OR 2010, 74° EDITION : A WELL DISERVED VICTORY FOR THE BIKERS’DAYS 199 TEAM !!!
Ever since the qualifying sessions of Saturday morning, our team was confident and also conscious about their possibilities to end within the top.
A lot of things happened during this 2010 edition – spectacular crashes, drop-outs – it wasn’t easy for our riders to stay concentrated.
After 1h30 in the race, we were already on the 2nd step of the Superstock podium and on an 18th place in general. The preparation of the bike was impeccable, so al there was to it for our riders was to endure… At mid-race, we were in the top 10 of the general ranking and went steadily up to the top 5.
The night fell and our trio (Grégory Fastré, Marc Fissette and Raymond Schouten) kept up the pace. The didn’t make one mistake in 24 hours, showing their capacity to ride homogeneously, with their heart, with passion, but also without losing their heads.
Sunday morning we were finally first in the Superstock ranking, 6th in general. As always in endurance races, the last hours seemed to last for ages. All was still possible ! In the box, no one dared to mention the word victory, as if talking about it would bring bad luck… The pressure could be felt till the last seconds!
But then the clock turned 15 hours and after 24 hours of race we had finally succeeded, our first victory was a fact ! What an explosion of joy ! Finally the pressure was gone : we did it, all together, we led this adventure to a good ending with a magnificent team spirit and we’re proud of it !
A WORD OF THE « BOSS »
« For a company that organises events all throughout the year, taking on the adventure of starting up an Endurance Team that wins thanks to its good organisation, that’s a wonderful achievement.
This result reflects the work of an entire team. Leading man of the team was Olivier Aerts, backed up by the chief mechanic Marc Margraff and engine tuner Mario Küpper. I would like to thank all of them as well as all mechanics and the entire team: from the people indicating the lap times, to the kine, the cook, the photographer and all those who work at our image from the office.
I would like to thank our sponsors and partners who supported us ever since the presentation of our Team 199 project. I’d also like to say a special thanks to Yamaha and Michelin for their technical support, they really listened to us, allowing us to make progress and achieve this Superstock victory.
I still have many ideas for projects in 2011 and this victory gives me wings …»
